XUNGLEE / VAT
VAT inclusive calculator
Calculations stay in your browser. No invoices stored.
Display only; no currency conversion. All results use 2 decimal places.
Rounding: nearest minor unit, half away from zero. Single calculations round net and VAT for display and reconcile gross; removal derives VAT as gross minus rounded net. Invoice lines round quantity × unit price first, then VAT per line; totals sum rounded lines.

Formulas and explanation
Add VAT: VAT = net × rate/100; gross = net + VAT. Remove VAT: net = gross/(1 + rate/100). At 20%, 100 net becomes 120 gross; 120 gross contains 20 VAT and 100 net. Subtracting 20% of gross would incorrectly give 96.
Rates can change. Verify current tax rules with HMRC or a qualified professional. Presets do not determine which rate applies to a supply. Zero-rated and exempt are different treatments.
